How can I volunteer with the Carroll County animal shelter?

There are many different ways you can volunteer, here is a list of the different types of volunteers the Carroll County Animal shelter currently needs:

  • Administrative Assistant Volunteer - Help Carroll County Animal Services run smoothly by providing support in the administrative office.  Volunteer tasks includes data entry, answering phone calls, filing, organizing.

  • Adoption Assistant Volunteer - Play match maker and help our adoptable animals find their furever homes by guiding the public through the adoption process.  This volunteer position works closely with the customer service team to provide our community an excellent experience while choosing their new friend.  An ideal candidate would provide consistent service in order to learn about the unique traits of each adoptable animal.

  • Dog Walker Volunteer - Provide socialization, exercise, basic obedience commands, and enrichment to the dogs through walking and time outside the kennel.

  • Cat Enrichment Volunteer - Help make our adoptable cats happy while they wait for their forever family! Volunteer tasks include providing enrichment, socialization and basic housekeeping for cats on the adoption floor.

  • Dog Enrichment Volunteer - Provide our adoptable dogs the exercise and enrichment they need to thrive while they wait to be adopted.  Volunteer tasks include interacting with adoptable dogs while providing them exercise, socialization, and enrichment including treat distribution and some clicker training.  Be our eyes and ears and help us maintain safety protocol to facilitate positive interactions between the public and adoptable dogs.

  • Event Assistant Volunteer - Help with the planning, preparation and execution of off-site events.  Volunteer tasks include gathering event supplies, set up and tear down and animal handling.  The ideal event assistant volunteer will be comfortable communicating with people from diverse backgrounds.
